  • Our Philosophy on Early Childhood Education
    We help our students grow in Mind

    • Teachers have a minimum required B.S. in Elementary Education
    • Curriculum is aligned with State of Ohio Content Standards
    • Extensive technology opportunities with use of Smart Boards and Smart Tables and Ipads for each student

    We help our students grow in Body

    • Secure, safe green space for play and gardens for prayer and exploration
    • Large, age-appropriate playground with state-of-the art equipment designed just for small children
    • Large indoor play areas including gym equipment and the Discovery Lab with modern learning toys for gross motor skill development
    • Minimum of two recess periods/”brain breaks” per day
    • PreK 4, Young 5’s and Kindergarten participate in gym class two times per week
    • PreK 4, Young 5’s and Kindergarten participate in music, computer and Spanish class once a week

    We help our students grow in Spirit

    • Prayer throughout the school day in each classroom and every morning school-wide
    • Emphasis on the life skills Jesus taught
    • Formal classroom religion program, “God Made the World” and classroom faith sharing
    • Special faith-based events such as weekly Advent prayer, Lenten prayer and annual Knighting Ceremony

    We believe every student is a Leader

    • Every child has leadership abilities. As a licensed Leader In Me school Holy Cross is bringing out those abilities in all of our students beginning with our youngest. Once enrolled at HCCS, students experience a new level of pride and confidence and aspire to be servant leaders.
    • Leadership skills are taught to all students using The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, developed by FranklinCovey Education.
    • The 7 Habits represent a holistic approach to becoming effective personally and interpersonally. They help students build the 21st-century life skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive and collaborative society. Participating in TLIM is life changing for students, teachers and caregivers.

    3 Year Old PreKindergarten Class

    • The PreK 3 Class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
    • Before School Childcare is available 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
    • 5:1 Student/Teacher Ratio
    • Your child will make discoveries about God’s world through exploration and prayer
    • Students use play to develop fine and gross motor skills
    • Children learn to interact with other children and adults as they develop social skills through The Leader in Me Initiative
    • Healthy snack served daily

    4 Year Old PreKindergarten Class

    • The PreK 4 Class is offered Mon/Wed/Fri 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM or half day 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
    • Before School Childcare is available 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
    • 6:1 Student/Teacher Ratio
    • Your child will develop a respect for God, self and others
    • Students Participate in field trips
    • Use of a variety of learning experiences such as music and movement, sign language and intergenerational experiences to enhance learning
    • Weekly computer class, gym class and music class
    • Weekly Spanish class
    • Children learn to interact with other children and adults as they develop leadership skills through The Leader in Me Initiative
    • Each student builds a data notebook with individualized goals and progress measurement
    • Healthy snack and lunch served daily
    • Afternoon rest period daily

    Young 5's Class

    • The Young Fives program is an all-day, every day kindergarten prep program with curriculum geared toward developing the confidence and academic preparedness needed for a successful start in Kindergarten.
    • Small Class Size
    • HCCS’s Young Fives program is unique in that it is designed within the framework of The Leader in Me program all students at HCCS experience. The purpose of The Leader in Me is to produce students who are equipped with the leadership and life skills they need to succeed in school, college, and life. TLIM is based on a holistic approach to becoming effective personally and interpersonally. The program empowers students to build the 21st-century life skills that are so needed in today’s competitive and collaborative society.
    • Before School Childcare is available 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
    • Weekly participate in art, gym, music, library, computer and Spanish class
    • Fine-tune pre-reading skills utilizing the Phonics Dance program
    • Students deepen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through daily prayer and weekly Mass
    • Healthy snack and lunch served daily
    • Afternoon “Brain Break” daily

    Kindergarten Class

    • Small Class size with dedicated classroom aid
    • State of the art classroom technology
    • Students deepen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through daily prayer and weekly Mass
    • Our Kindergarten student’s reading scores are the top in the region. Students participate in the Accelerated Reader Program and most students achieve an above proficient reading level before entering first grade.
    • Kindergarten students participate in art, gym, music, library, computer and Spanish class weekly
    • Students develop skills at their own pace through differentiated learning and establishing personal goals through The Leader in Me program
    • Students experience learning through field trips and classroom enrichment activities
