1,000 Paper Cranes & Doves

January 27, 2021
You are invited to join us as we make 1,000 paper cranes and doves.
Our efforts were inspired by the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes which the 5th grade class read.
Izzy Meyer, one of the students who read the book, explained that in the story, a Japanese girl sets out to make paper cranes after learning of the legend of 1000 paper cranes. The Japanese legend says that one who creates a thousand origami cranes would be granted a wish.
HCCS students are making 1,000 paper cranes in prayer for those afflicted with illness.
The entire community is invited to join HCCS in prayer of those afflicted with illness and help reach the goal of 1,000 paper cranes and doves.
There is a collection box at the entrance of the school for anyone who wishes to participate.
All doves and cranes will be hung throughout the school.
