Our Philosophy on Early Childhood Education

• Teachers have a minimum required B.S. in Elementary Education
• Curriculum is aligned with State of Ohio Content Standards

• Large, age-appropriate playground with state-of-the art equipment designed just for small children
• Large indoor play areas including gym equipment and the Discovery Lab with modern learning toys for gross motor skill development
• Minimum of two recess periods/”brain breaks” per day
• PreK 4, Young 5’s and Kindergarten participate in gym class two times per week

• Prayer throughout the school day in each classroom and every morning school-wide
• Emphasis on the life skills Jesus taught

• Every child has leadership abilities. Holy Cross is bringing out those abilities in all of our students beginning with our youngest. Once enrolled at HCCS, students experience a new level of pride and confidence and aspire to be servant leaders.
• There is an intentional emphasis on teaching good habits and leadership skills. This practice helps students build the 21st-century life skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive and collaborative society.

Early Childhood Education Classes
3 Year Old PreKindergarten Class
• The PreK 3 Class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
• Before School Childcare is available 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
• 5:1 Student/Teacher Ratio
• Your child will make discoveries about God’s world through exploration and prayer
• Students use play to develop fine and gross motor skills
• Children learn to interact with other children and adults as they develop social skills
• Healthy snack served daily4 Year Old PreKindergarten Class
• The PreK 4 Class is offered Mon/Wed/Fri 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM or half day 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
• Before School Childcare is available 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
• 6:1 Student/Teacher Ratio
• Your child will develop a respect for God, self and others
• Students Participate in field trips
• Use of a variety of learning experiences such as music and movement, sign language and intergenerational experiences to enhance learning
• Weekly computer class, gym class and music class
• Children learn to interact with other children and adults as they develop leadership skills
• Each student builds a data notebook with individualized goals and progress measurement
• Healthy snack and lunch served daily

• The Young Fives program is an all-day, every day kindergarten prep program with curriculum geared toward developing the confidence and academic preparedness needed for a successful start in Kindergarten.

• Fine-tune pre-reading skills utilizing the Phonics Dance program

• Our Kindergarten student’s reading scores are the top in the region. Students participate in the Accelerated Reader Program and most students achieve an above proficient reading level before entering first grade.
