Silver Knight Award Winner

Each year one member of our HCCS community is selected to receive the Silver Knight Award. This award is presented to an individual who has shown their support to the students, staff and school in exceptional ways. We are proud to announce that this year’s recipient is Fr. Eric Mueller. Fr. Eric has been a member of our HCCS community for over five years. As part of his pastoral responsibilities, he served as the school’s superintendent from 2017-2019.

Our students love to see Fr. Eric. He visits with students every week. Fr. Eric joins the students for lunch and recess and spends time socializing and playing with them. He is a great role model for our students. He will be missed tremendously at HCCS. Congratulations Fr. Eric and best wishes on your new parish assignment.

Lending Library at HCCS

HCCS has a lending library! A lending library is an outdoor place where the public can borrow a book and donate books. Our library was a project Mrs. Killion worked on with the Student Lighthouse Team. The library is located in the bus loop on Clinton Street. Come visit and borrow a book this summer!

Chief Receipts

All Chief receipts for the school year need to be turned into the school office by May 29th. Thank you to those who have participated! The school receives funding for all Chief receipts collected during the school year.

The staff of HCCS would like to thank the Parent Ministry Organization and Mrs. Reinhart for the goody box they received during Teacher Appreciation Week. The PMO does such wonderful things to support the students and staff of HCCS. This is just another example of how awesome our PMO is!

Did You Know…

The word ‘novena’ comes from the Latin word ‘novem’, which means ‘nine’. Fittingly, a novena is nine days of prayer. Novenas are an ancient tradition that goes back to the days of the Apostles. Jesus told His disciples to pray together after His ascension into heaven, so they went to an upper room along with the Blessed Virgin Mary, (Acts 1:14) and joined constantly in prayer for nine days. These nine days of constant prayer by the Apostles at the direction of Jesus led up to Pentecost. This is when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples as “tongues of fire” (Acts 2:1-4). This pattern of 9 days of prayer is the basis the novenas we pray today.
